8:23 am	Ugh, WHY?? So I joined a group of runners that are training to run the 5K Race for the Cure in June. I was sorta talked into it by my co-worker. Well of course tonight is the first night we run and guess what?? It's going to be 50 degrees and raining. NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! (Comment on this)

1:08 pm	Update Well my sister is now in a walking boot and at home finally. They carried her upstairs and she is going to stay stationary in her room and they are going to bring her anything she needs upstairs. She is in a lot of pain and the hospital was having trouble managing it with Lortab. Hopefully that is under control. I did not hear from Emory so I guess that I did not get in. I aced the TEAS test for nursing so I might be getting into nursing school. I hear back from them at the end of the month. If anything changes I will keep everyone posted. (Comment on this)

8:14 am	Sister and Ice So Melissa fell on the ice on Tuesday when she was going into school. She is 9 months preggo but the baby is ok. Broke her shin in three places and fractured her ankle. She is going in for surgery this morning to get a permanent pin in her leg as well as a cast for a long damn time. Luckily they decided not to take the baby and are going to monitor her during the procedure to make sure the baby is ok. I am going up this weekend to see her and my parents are already up there taking care of Michael. Send her your prayers! (1 Comment |Comment on this)

12:06 pm	Sister Ok so my Mom calls me up this morning in tears telling me that my sister fell in the parking lot of her school and couldn't get up by herself. They called an ambulance and took her to the hospitol. The back story is that she is due at the end of this month with her second baby (a boy) and Charlotte, where she lives, got five inches of snow yesterday that today is now ice. She broke her ankle in two places and her shin. She is going to have surgery today. Mom and Dad are on their way to Charlotte. Pray for her!! (Comment on this)

8:50 am	Emory OK so I THINK that the interview went OK. I won't know anything until March 6th or later. They asked really stupid questions that made no sense and were really deep. For example "which 24 hours of your life would you re-do if you had the chance and why?" We also had to run a scenario with a paid actor, why I don't know. So I am basically in hold mode until after March 6th, at this point I have done all that I can and it's in God's hands now. (1 Comment |Comment on this)

6:10 pm	Atlanta Ok well after the monkeys F'd up my paperwork this week at Wilson Community College I finally heard that yes I can take the TEAS test for nursing instead of no. That's good because then I might go to nursing school. This weekend, however, we (my parents and I) are driving once again to Decator GA to go to an interview on Monday morning at Emory University for their PA program. At this point as far as I know I have NOT gotten into Duke, I MAY be on the wait list but I have to wait either for a letter in 10 days or a letter at the end of MARCH. So waiting again. I am on the WAIT LIST for Wake Forest. Top third for whatever that's worth. So maybe or maybe not for them. So that's it. I may be going to PA school or it might be nursing. We shall see. I just wish that other people could see what all my friends and family see. Someone really dedicated and focused and deserving a chance to go to school. (Comment on this)

5:18 pm	Duke So I had my interview at Duke on Wednesday. I think it went well and they spent today deciding my fate. I got totally stuck on the very last question tho. "Who would you invite to a dinner party if you were only allowed three people?". WTF??? I mean am I on a crappy game show or what?? SO they could be alive or dead but they had to be considered real people, (There went my Zeus king of the Olympian Gods Idea). So I first said my Grandma, she was the best hostess I know. Then I said that I would like to meet Hitler just to see if he was as whacked out as they say. Then my brian froze and I had NO IDEA WHO TO SAY NEXT!! So who did I pick????? Ceaser. 3:35 pm	Redeemed! So I didn't tell anyone but I was emailed that I was on the wait list for an INTERVIEW at Duke. Well as you can guess I didn't think I had a snowball's chance in hell of even getting an interview. Well shock me stupid in the middle of Krogetto but my phone rings and I have an interview next Wednesday. Not only did I get an interview slot but it also just happens to be on a day that we don't see patients so I won't be missed at work!! YAY ME!! Wish me luck, AGAIN. 4:39 pm	Bummer Well it is official. I am not going to Wake Forest this year. Oddly enough I am lower on the wait list than I was last year, (THAT SEEMS FAIR DOESN'T IT???) so F them. I have an interview at Emory University in February (the 23rd) so wish me luck for that. There is always nursing school if I don't get into PA school this year. 8:00 am	Rotten Gourd House Ok so my way of remembering how to get to Susan's house was always turning at the "rotten gourd house". For those of you who know, this house really does look like a rotten gourd. It's color was orange/green/yick and looked like it was molding. Well so shock me pink I went by that house two days ago and saw that they REPAINTED!! What's up with that??? Now it's a normal white color with black shutters. Now I hope that I never have to find that house again because it's so nondescrept that I will never remember to turn there. Oh well. At least now the owners have some taste. 3:49 am	Update Ok, so everything hit the fan this weekend so here's the gist: 1. I am quitting my job today to go and work for a doctor in Raleigh for a good SALARY (not hourly) and the hours don't include weekends!! Yay!! 2. I have an interview with Methodist College for PA School on October 4th. 3. I have YET to complete the secondary applications for four different PA Schools because I am a lazy ass. 4. Social life still non-existant, not a news bulliton but at least now you know. (Comment on this)

6:44 am	Uncle Update For those who are following this, my uncle was diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor/ possibly cancer. Well yesterday they did a partial Whipple procedure removing some of the tumor and his gall bladder. They couldn't get everything because he has a nasty large vein feeding the tumor and they were worried about bleeding. So far the tissue has not tested as cancerous even though they said it LOOKS cancerous, they are doing more testing. I don't know what the next step is, maybe surgery, but I will keep you posted. Also I totalled my car last week. Bumps and bruises, got a new car, and ended up $4000 up in the deal. Sucky way to get a new car but at least I'm not in the hole that bad. New car is about $40 more a month but I'll survive. (2 Comments |Comment on this)

6:47 am	Prayer Request So I just found out yesterday that my Uncle is in the intensive care unit at Wake Med hospitol. They found a tumor on the head of his pancreas. They tried to insert a stint into his bile duct yesterday to open it and let the toxic shit drain out but they had to cancel the surgery when his blood pressure dropped too low and his heart rate wouldn't stabolize. They think it was because he was dehydrated and also when you do surgery around the bile you run the risk of stirring it up in the body and causing arrythmia. He is now going to have a Whipple Procedure sometime this week and here are the options: 1. They get all the tumor, re-route the bile duct into the small intestine and that is the end and he is fine. 2. They get most of the tumor, re-route to the intestine and he may need chemo or radiation depending on whether it is cancerous or not. 3. They find that the tumor spread and they have to stop surgery and close him up. He has already had testicular cancer and had chemo and radiaiton for that some years ago. They are not sure IF this is cancer first and IF he can have chemo because of having it before. I am praying that they get everything and he doesn't need the chemo. 3:44 am	Job So now I have a new job, thank GOD!! I work in Durham now which is about a 30 min drive daily but so far not with much traffic. I know it's only been two days but so far so good. I am getting paid a crazy amount of money to work from 7:30 to 4:30 daily. I have been home by 5 every day so far and am loving it!! My old work fell apart and I have no idea what their solution is for no docs and weird hours. Good luck to them and thank god it's not my problem anymore! 9:19 am	No Idea Ok, so what would think at this point?? I was just told that we have no optometrist, and now no surgeon. We are open next week but don't have a doc so we are having to do what's called "vision evaluations" which means we get pictures and talk to the patient about surgery but I cannot tell them that they are/are not candidates for surgery. They have to come back to get dilated and see a doctor. So that's at LEAST two trips that these people have to make and possibly THREE if we can't dilate the patient and do surgery on the same day. Another option for my hours are seeing patients three days a week with no doc, dilating the patients in the morning of surgery then leaving for a few hours and coming back and STARTING surgery at 3 PM. That means not leaving the office until 10 PM or LATER. That would be a hell no. Thank GOD I found a job at the Durham VA and I can start as soon as my stupid background check comes in. 7:58 am	Not Dead Ok so I haven't posted in forever and this is proof that I am not dead. I am in the middle of re-applying for PA school for this next year (starts 8/09) so for all of you who have applied to Grad programs you know what I am going through. What I love is that my online app is finished, paid for since last week, and STILL NOT MAILED TO THE SCHOOLS!!! Bitches, I paid you now SEND IT!! That would be another $350 down the toilet. Then there are those four pesky "supplimental" apps that are also from $40-60 a piece. Why don't they just ask for a check instead of the whole application. They ask the same damn questions so they just want money. You all know what I mean! Also still looking for another job. Wish me luck!! Kitty (Comment on this)

8:08 am	PA School So Emory is out for this year. The whole process repeats itself April 17th so I get to start all over again. So at least this time I will get everything in ASAP to the schools so I will have a better chance. This sucks because now I have no reason to stay at my current job so I'm now looking. Wish me luck. 12:57 pm	PA School Ok, So I had an interview at Emory University in Atlanta GA this week. I'm very excited about it and feel that I did my best. I have no idea what they are looking for so we'll see if I get in. I was told that I would hear after March 7th. If I get in it will be a phone call and if not it will be a letter.
